About This Place
A massive gilt boulder perched improbably on the edge of a cliff, topped with a small pagoda. It is one of the most important Buddhist pilgrimage sites in Myanmar. October to March (pilgrimage season, cooler). The peak Buddhist pilgrimage period is around November–March. Avoid the rainy season when the road can be dangerous.

Visitor Tip
Women are not allowed to touch the Golden Rock — a strict rule observed by all. Dress modestly (sarong/longyi) and remove shoes at the pagoda compound. Overnight stays are highly recommended.
