Highlights & Must-Sees
Best Time to Visit
October to March is ideal. Early morning boat trips offer stunning mist on the water. Avoid the monsoon season (June–September) when the lake rises considerably.
How to Get There
Fly to Heho Airport (~45 min from Yangon) then take a taxi to Nyaungshwe (~25 min). Buses from Yangon or Mandalay take ~8–10 hours. Shared taxis from nearby towns are also available.
Visitor Tip
Hire a long-tail boat with a driver for a full-day lake tour (~15,000–25,000 MMK). Agree on the itinerary and price before departure. Starting out early morning (6–7am) gives the best light and calmer waters.
